החממה הכריזה על הזוכים בפרסי חממת סם שפיגל לקולנוע בינלאומי 2024 – הלל ראטה, עומר בן דוד וורה גרינבלט והעניקה להם את הפרסים בסך 70,000 דולר, בטקס שנערך על גג ביה”ס לקולנוע וטלוויזיה סם שפיגל בירושלים.
הפרס הראשי של חממת סם שפיגל ה-12 לקולנוע בינלאומי 2024 בסך 50,000 דולר, תרומת קרן ברכה, הוענק לסרט “הגדר הטובה” של היוצר הלל ראטה והמפיק לב אורלוב. חבר השופטים בראשות רולנד טייכמן, מנכ”ל מכון הקולנוע האוסטרי, כתב בנימוקי הזכייה כי “הסרט מתאר מערכת יחסים טעונה בין אב ובן המתגוררים בהתנחלות, בעקבות טרגדיה משפחתית. הוא נמנע מתשובות פשוטות תוך התבוננות בנושאים המורכבים ביותר של זמננו”.
פרס היוצר המבטיח של חממת סם שפיגל ה-12 לקולנוע בינלאומי 2024, בסך 20,000 דולר הוענק לסרט “מי גר שם” של היוצרים עומר בן דוד וורה גרינבלט, והמפיקה אסתי מקלברג. בנימוקי השופטים לזכייה נכתב כי “באמצעות דיוקן בלתי נשכח של מתבגרת הלומדת לנווט במסדרונות החברתיים של הפנימייה הדתית בה היא חיה, “מי גר שם” בוחן את ההקרבה שאנחנו צריכים לעשות במהלך ההגנה על עצמנו, וכיצד אנו מתאוששים ממנה”.
השנה השתתפו בחממה פרויקטים מפולין, הולנד, קרואטיה, הונגריה, צרפת וישראל. חבר השופטים הבינלאומי של חממת סם שפיגל לקולנוע בינלאומי 2024 כלל את היו”ר רולנד טייכמן, מנכ”ל מכון הקולנוע האוסטרי המפיקה הבלגית דיאנה אלבאום, ודניאל שטיינמן, נשיא שותף של חברת 30west.
חממת הקולנוע הבינלאומי של בית הספר סם שפיגל בירושלים, היא אחת התוכניות המובילות לפיתוח סרטים עלילתיים פורצי דרך של כמה מהכישרונות המבטיחים בעולם. במהלך העשור האחרון פרויקטים מבית החממה זכו בפרסים הבינלאומיים יוקרתיים ביותר – החל מפרס האוסקר לסרט “הבן של שאול” של הבמאי לאסלו נמש ועד למצלמת הזהב בפסטיבל קאן ל”מורינה” של הבמאית אנטונטה קוסיאנוביץ’.

12 th edition awards prizes at a gala event
Prizes totaling $70,000 were awarded to promising new talents from
around the world
The 12 th edition of the Sam Spiegel International Film Lab awarded prizes to two
outstanding projects this year. The Sam Spiegel International Film Lab $50,000
Grand Prize, donated by the Beracha Foundation was awarded to The Good Fence,
by Hillel Rate, producer Lev Orlov. The jury headed by Roland Teichmann, CEO
of the Austrian Film Institute, stated “The Good Fence portrays the conflicted
relationship between a father and son in the settlements, in the wake of a family
tragedy. It avoids simple answers while looking unblinkingly at the most complex
issues of our time.”.
The Sam Spiegel International Film Lab Emerging Filmmaker Award in the amount
of $20,000 was granted to Who Lives There, by Omer Ben-David, Vera Grinblat,
producer Estee Meckleberg, Israel. The jury statement read:“Through an
unforgettable portrait of an adolescent learning to navigate the social corridors of her
religious boarding school, Who Lives There explores the sacrifices we sometimes
must make in the course of defending ourselves, and how we recover from them..”
The international jury consisting of Belgian producer Diana Elbaum; 30West co-
president Daniel Steinman; and Roland Teichmann, the CEO of the Austrian Film
Institute, were present for a hybrid pitching event that took place at the Sam Spiegel
Film and Television School’s central Jerusalem location.
The Jerusalem Sam Spiegel International Film Lab, is one of the foremost programs
for the development of groundbreaking feature films by some of the world’s most
promising talents. Over the past decade, JSFL projects have received the most
prestigious accolades- from Lazlo Nemes's Academy Award winning Son of Saul, to
the Camera d’Or for Murina by Antoneta Kusijanović.
This year’s lineup included projects from Poland; the Netherlands; Croatia; Hungary;
France and Israel. Among them a project by 2021 Berlinale Silver Bear winner for
direction Dénes Nagy from Hungary (Natural Light); Sarajevo CineLink award
winner Olivér Rudolf and Zsigmond Kungl; Polish producer Maciej Sobieszczański
whose previous shorts were screened in Berlin and Locarno; Israeli director Elinor
Nechemya whose shorts took part in Cannes Semaine de la Critique and Toronto and
Israeli Omer Sterenberg whose short had its world premiere at the Berlinale.
Dana Blankstein Cohen, executive director of the Sam Spiegel Film and Television
School, said: “Over the past few months, when such terrible events are happening, we
at Sam Spiegel have asked ourselves what is our role as a creative community. The
war has transformed our ability to express empathy for the other. That is why I
believe it is our duty to use our power and our responsibility to shape the future
through storytelling. More than ever, it is our duty to preserve humanity and fight for
freedom of expression and creative liberty. ”

this challenging year with an edition full of wonderful projects and participants, who
proved, once again, that art has the power to heal hearts.”
